“ME ME MEME” – Social Media Workshop

7-8 October 2026 | 9:30 - 13:30

Workshop Leader: Mahsa Nejadfallah & Danial Baharlo

Location: Prager Str. 5, 99427 Weimar

Workshop Overview

How does social media work, and how does the content we encounter every day affect us? In this workshop, young people explore social media, media content and democratic education through active participation and creative activities.

Together, participants analyse a range of social media content and learn to better understand its impact, messages and potential manipulation. They also practise critically questioning information, recognising different perspectives and navigating social media safely and independently.

Active participation is central to the workshop: participants’ own ideas, experiences and interests help shape the activities. They develop their own content and explore their creativity by producing social media posts, videos or other media formats.

The workshop may also include interviews with young people, which can be incorporated into the content created together. All interviews and publication of material involving participants require their explicit consent.

The workshop brings together media literacy, civic and democratic education, and creative media production. It aims to empower young people to analyse media content thoughtfully, express their own opinions and use social media safely, critically and responsibly.
