Workshop Overview

The media can shape our society and identity but how does this happen in practice, and what does it mean for media professionals and their work?

Organised by MENT Mediennetzwerk Thüringen e.V. in collaboration with the RETURN International Film & Art Festival, this masterclass brings together media and creative professionals from across Thuringia, as well as students, to explore these questions.

Following a joint opening session and short presentations by experts from research and practice, participants can choose one of three roundtable discussions: Constructive Journalism with Dr Elisa Hofmann (in German), Media & Politics with Dr Sabrina Schmidt (in English), or Media & Democracy with filmmaker Yvonne Andrä (in German).

Through discussion and shared experiences, participants will explore how media influence public debate, political awareness and democratic society, while gaining new perspectives for their own work.

Participation is free with prior registration. The event takes place in German and English, depending on the discussion group.
