Director’s Statement:
*Mann muss gehen* is a film about the fear of mortality and the inevitable. It was important to me to keep both the story and its themes as abstract as possible, leaving room for the audience’s own thoughts and feelings. To support this, we aimed to create a particular atmosphere that would help the audience understand the characters and the narrative. Joe’s encounters with his friends and family, in particular, represent a quiet, flowing source of hope that he desperately tries to reach.
