Description
On a secluded farm in Lower Bavaria, Xaver struggles with guilt and fear during the icy winter. Nourished by the myths of his childhood and the faith of the local people, he searches for justice and a way out of the guilt that haunts him. As the shadows of his past thicken on Krampus Night, he faces a momentous decision.

Florian Ecker (1995 in Eggenfelden, Lower Bavaria) is a teacher and filmmaker from Germany. For years, he has combined his passion for storytelling and his deep interest in human experience with his love of folklore, fairy tales, and mythical creatures. The renowned HARD:LINE festival in Regensburg even calls him "one of the great hopes of German-language folk horror". His works have been shown and awarded at several festivals, including the International Short Film Week Regensburg, the Landshut Short Film Festival, and the Biberach Film Festival.
Director Statement
"Krampus" is inspired by the life story of my late grandfather and his experiences with the Krampus. He grew up under difficult circumstances in Lower Bavaria, lost his biological mother at an early age, and had a harsh childhood. Yet I always experienced him as a calm and humble man who, despite everything, repeatedly chose to do what is good. The story is therefore a homage to him and shows that even in the darkest times, the good within a person can endure. At the same time, the film tells a universal story about justice, hope, and the choice to do what is right.
