About the event
3D Animation as a Tool for Democratic Participation
This three-day workshop introduces 3D animation as an accessible means of creative expression. No previous experience is required, and participants do not need to appear on camera or feel confident speaking in front of others to share their thoughts, experiences and perspectives.
Through developing ideas, discussing different viewpoints and making decisions together, participants experience how democracy depends on participation. They practise listening, respecting different opinions and finding shared solutions.
The workshop also explores media literacy: how images and stories shape our perceptions, and how we can use media to express our perspectives and draw attention to social issues.
Working with fictional characters creates a supportive space to explore experiences of exclusion, cultural belonging, identity and solidarity without having to reveal personal experiences directly. Telling stories from different perspectives encourages empathy and opens up conversations about topics that can be difficult to discuss.
